While the process is manageable, it is a project; it took a full weekend to complete. My husband handled most of the assembly, though he definitely needed an extra set of hands to safely erect the support pillars and main frame. Make sure your electric drill is fully charged and ready to go, as there are quite a few screws involved in securing the slats. Once it's up, though, the payoff is immediate. This pergola offers a perfect reprieve from the sun throughout the day, featuring a smooth louvered system that is incredibly easy to operate. Each side opens and closes with one fluid motion, giving us precise control over exactly how much sunlight we let in. The wood grain coating on the aluminum frame adds an elegant and timeless touch. We really appreciate that the four outer pillars each have a drainage hole, thanks to the advanced drainage system that efficiently collects rainwater by channeling it down through 4 pillars. Slide your pergola posts over the wood posts, and screw the pergola posts into the wood. The result is a lasting installation that is safe and rigid. This mounting system was specifically designed for Vita brand pergolas. We highly recommend that if you are installing any of these vinyl Pergolas on a flat surface, you purchase this kit. The mounting system comes with brackets and 1.5” (3.8cm) self-tapping screws. The bolt-down brackets are guaranteed for 5 years against defects. Important note: do not use the bolt-down bracket system for installing the pergola over concrete pavers, patio stones, or interlocking bricks.
