Cool Contours 2 is a tribute to the pioneering Swedish artist and mystic Hilma af Klint, who was recognized for crafting some of the first abstract artworks in Western culture. This composition showcases a biomorphic motif that af Klint was known for. A prominent black contour line offers the eye a compelling anchor while the intimacy of hand-drawn marks offers a counterpoint. A Mexico City native, Matera is an abstract artist specializing in acrylic and mixed media works. She paints outdoors exclusively, inspired by the changing weather which she uses to guide her intuitive process. This grandly scaled diptych is framed within rustic walnut.
