I was able to assembly the shed by myself. I kept the vertical beams from falling over by using tape (string would have worked, too) to nearby anchor points, such as a shelf unit or a stepladder. The instructions have no words, but the line drawings are good. Step 1 line drawing shows holes for 4 screws but the product had only 2. Step 2. the holes don't line up exactly. I used a bolt in the largest hole as a temporary alignment aid. Step 3. Perhaps it should be said that the doors go on the end with part #1. If you are assembling the shed in a small area, it it important to face the door in the right direction. I assembled it in a space that was about 6 feet wide. I had to push the shed back and forth to work on one side, then the other. Step 4. When putting side panels on, the bottom screw goes into the bottom frame. It's the most difficult one. To hold the panel while I worked on it, I put a temporary screw in one upper corner, then did the screws on the other end, starting at the bottom. Step 5. Part number 5. The bottom end is the one with a notch. After doing step 8, you could also do step 13 and step 18; that would hold the door frame better. Step 11. I put 9L on the right, 9R on the left. I think it depends on which way you want the roof to slope. Steps 14 and 15. These are the pieces with the sharpest edges. Reverse the directions on step 15 if you want the roof to slope the other way. I had to drill 2 holes for this step. For a product with hundreds of holes, most of the alignments were good. But I had to drill a hole in part 7 (frame above doors) at each end. The directions do not show any screws into the bottom of parts 12R and 12L, but you need 10 or so to connect these panels to the top of the shed. Holes are provided, but the instructions omitted that step. Step 16, the roof panels. Do the center hole first, because you can't exert much pressure on it. You will need to push the panels a bit. If they flatten, then the holes spread apart. Do the top side next, because if you are on a short ladder (like I was) it's more difficult. If the shed isn't exactly square, then the holes won't line up well. I did it in about 2 half-days. There were lots of F1 screws and plastic washers left over.. Michael. La Verne, CA. Came with stainless steel washers, but lag screws were only zinc coated, so I purchased stainless steel 5/16 bolts instead that will not rust. I cut to fit gray rubber cover base (see photos) from HD to fit under base plates for added stability, to prevent contact from water and chlorine, prevent water from intruding into anchor holes, and for leveling posts. Note, I am an engineer, so please take the following comments bearing that in mind. Rankings of each category are 1-5 Stars. 1) Overall quality (5*). The finished product is great. After reading numerous reviews of sheds that are too flimsy and not weather resistant, this one seems well designed, durable (steel) and capable of keeping out light to moderate rain. However since it's made of steel, rust may be an issue in time . 2) Price per Sq. ft. (4.5*). Note: the 8' x 6' dimension is an exterior dimension. The interior is slightly less, however this it typical of this type of shed. Based on other sheds I've seen and read about, not having the same quality, this one matches up nicely. 3) Ease of assembly. (4*). Plan on two people over two days (average). It will require some ladder work, but not a lot. All pieces are light enough to be lifted by one person. Each piece is clearly identified. The instructions match the assembly procedure fairly well (mostly pictorial - good!). At times you really have to study the instructions (pictures) and the pieces involved, otherwise you may error and need to remove / redo a section. Helpful tip: Take all of the parts out, if possible, and inventory them prior to starting assembly. Group parts with similar assembly codes together. I absolutely love this pergola kit to do your own over a patio space, but, the instructions in giving one any kind of direction on how long it takes and really showing someone what they have to do were so, so poor. Said it would take a half hour. How about a couple of hours just to figure out how long the would needs to be then a day and a half to actually finish it. Not everyone is going to have a stone patio already in place so we will take some time away for that portion. We used redwood 4 x 4’s and had to remove the stones already in place and we took deck blocks and made it so they went upside down and placed them in the three holes we had removed the stones from so we could drill and place the hardware on the deck blocks to make them secure. The one thing that we found when trying to attach them into concrete there is not enough room to attach your hardware to it. So you have to drill your hole with a concrete 716th drill bit which also not mentioned so we had to buy a couple sizes till we had that figured out and then the picture shows us putting it into the metal piece and then hammering it into the wholes where it expands and holds it in place like a milky screw does in drywall. The other thing was how easily the screw heads would just snap off when you started screwing them into the wood. They give you plenty of hardware but we still had to go buy more as that was a huge issue so many broke and found no instructions on where to really start placement of pieces. We had to take sections apart just to attach a piece that was already in place to have the 4 x 4. If my daughter in law wasn’t good at figuring this out I might be on it for a few months, she did a beautiful job and it looks amazing and I can’t wait to put up lights next to give the ambiance I’m looking for. Do better with instructions and better hardware . An amateur would get so frustrated trying to get those screws into the cement to make it secure we did a lot of “You tube videos to get it done.
