It is painted with a chalk type paint, very flat, no sheen, there are 2 pieces, the hutch and bottom drawers, it is very heavy and solid, took 3 men to lift the hutch onto the bottom drawers. There are no holes for electrical/cable cords, we had to drill those ourselves. The cabinet was missing 2 shelves as well as 1 drawer with putty filler, there was a mistake when they drilled the holes for the hardware pulls. This is a great cabinet however, there have been issues. The first one arrived damaged and Wayfair sent a furniture repair person to fix. It was too badly damaged and was replaced within three weeks. The second unit came in great condition, service was great however, upon further inspection, the touch-latch for the bottom drawer isn't functional. Hopefully an easy repair.
