The instructions strongly suggest securing to a wall with a single screw for best safety and stability, so we did that and it is rock solid and looks fantastic. We painted the center column to match the wall and it virtually disappears. We ran the power and HDMI cables behind the center column so there are no ugly wires showing. My friend and I could not be more happy with the product. Now that I have seen and used the stand, they are planning to buy another one for use in their daughters dorm room, on a smaller TV, as a great space saver without damaging the wall. It will be sandwiched between the bed and the wall and they won't use the screw.
