Feeds Twice a Day: This battery-operated fish feeder cycles through 12-hour intervals, and requires 1 AA battery to operate. In other words, this feeder automatically feeds fish twice a day. Please note that this is a preset setting, and cannot be changed or altered. The newly featured On/Off switch allows you to better set each 12-hour interval. Please Note: Battery Not Included. Flake Fish Food: The Daily-Double Automatic Fish Feeder is designed to dispense finely crushed flake food. Larger flakes should be broken up to prevent clogging. Each fish tank is made from ultra-clear plastic, and replicates nature’s metabolic cycle by providing a healthy and symbiotic environment for fish and plants: as fish excrete waste in the tank, the plant atop absorbs this waste as nourishment, which in turn cleans the tank’s water. For those more interested in growing plants hydroponically, our tanks can also be used strictly as a planter, allowing you to add your own nutrients. Suggested Fish: While Bettas are the most popular fish for our Aqua-Ponic Tank, they can also house Bloodfin Tetras, White Cloud Minnows, Danios, and Guppies (1 – 3 fish). For Bettas, please decrease the water level an inch, giving them enough space to breathe from the water’s surface. Suggested Plants: Most indoor house plants and kitchen herbs are suitable for planting atop. This includes Peace Lily, Chinese Evergreen, Lucky Bamboo, English Ivy, Mint, Watercress, Chives, or any leafy Lettuce. We recommend using established plants instead of starting from seed. If it can be grown in an indoor hydroponic garden, it can grow atop our tanks! Please research desired plant’s toxicity and nutritional requirements before using, since fish may nibble on the roots. Please note that the plant is not a source of food for fish. Any fish food can be used but avoid overfeeding as this can cloud water, and harm both fish and the plant. Additional Features: Our Aqua-Ponic Tanks come with ceramic planting media, which retains water and supports root growth for any plant you chose. Place larger pieces on the bottom of the enclosed pot, ensuring that small pieces won’t accidentally fall into the aquarium. To add water into the tank, simply water the plant, as if it’s in a pot of soil. As for feeding your fish, there are several side openings that are more than large enough for a pinch of food.
