As Ellen Ehk Åkesson was asked to create an art object in honor of Ulrica Hydman Vallien's artistry, the magnificent Ticka was born. The object became part of Kosta Boda's 2021 tribute collection to the late Hydman Vallien. Ticka, available in a limited edition of 100 pieces, is a vessel from Ellen’s own imagination based on the same shape as Ulrica’s “snake bowl”. “I wanted to make something of my own, but with a connection to Ulrica’s art. For the tribute collection, I was inspired by the directness of her approach and style. The vessel symbolizes a tree trunk. It’s covered with modeled polypore mushrooms, called ‘Ticka’ in Swedish – hence the name.” – Ellen Ehk Åkesson. Ticka is handmade in Kosta, Sweden.

Our sculpture is made from a lost-wax technique when boiling bronze is poured into a mold covering an original wax sculpture that melts away. Once set, there is a very long process of refining the bronze to give it a patina. This is among our bronze art pieces created by an unknown artist. We love her femininity.

Artist Wendy Kleine was born in Encino, California, and lived in Southern California until she was 7 years old and then moved with her family to Chicago, Illinois. While she had been influenced by her mother’s love of art as a small child, she was also inspired by her many trips to the Chicago art institute. In 1972 she and her family moved to the small mountain town of lake Arrowhead, California, where she attended the art program at Rim of the world high school and fell in love with the beauty of nature. For the past 6 years, she has been teaching acrylic and watercolor to children and adults. In 2015 Wendy began focusing on her own work using acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media. Our collection of wings vases is made by a group of elderly women who live at the border of Burma and Thailand. The black terracotta has a beautiful moss glazing covering it, the result of making the green vase feel as if it has been reclaimed from a sunken boat after having spent years in the deep sea. We have a number of shapes in the sunken boat family.

Love it! It came very well packaged. It's so much better in person. I like it for the southwest vibe it can have after adding some very good yet fake succulents to it.
