It lays fairly flat, but you’ll definitely want a rug pad or some heavier furniture on it to keep it from sliding around. Nice rug but they're not 100% accurate with the description. It says 9x9 but the actual length/width was 8 and change. Just keep that in mind in case you have to be very specific with dimensions.
