File cabinet is a nice piece of furniture but it was a beast to assemble. It took me six hours to assemble it; two of the six hours could have been avoided if I have secured the cabinet to the wall. After assembling the cabinet and placing the folders it was really wobbly, so I decided to secure the cabinet to the wall. The dark purple is a great color - file cabinets are fine for the price point. One of the two I ordered has a sizable dent on one corner. It it was to be in a corner or not viewable from two sides, I would be ok with it. However, it is being used to support wood for a desk in a brand new church office and plain to see. This is a beautiful piece of office furniture. Looks very good. Took about 3 hours to put together. If you are not good with reading instructions fully get help. It's somewhat strong, but I would only use it for hanging file folders. The bottoms of the draws are made with some sort of hardboard and the weight is not sufficient to hold much of anything else in my opinion. They are just slid into slots on the bottom. As advertised, generally pretty good, but very light weight. If I had seen it in person, and had the chance to pay more and get a more substantial filing cabinet, I would have happily paid more. Nonetheless, this is a metal (albeit very thin light-weight metal) filing cabinet and it works as it should. I used it with both drawers set for 8 1/2 x 11 in the standard way which is what I needed but I don’t think this is clear from the pics and verbiage online so I thought it best to say that both will work perfectly well for 8 1/2 x 11 file folders.. Ordered 2 at once. One arrived from New Jersey (?) in perfect condition, but the second shipped from TX never arrived. Customer service has been perfectly helpful for all FIVE (?) calls. A replacement (from TX) was ordered and arrived not boxed with corner protectors/top and bottom cardboard pieces completely damaged and unusable. A second replacement came (from TX) and arrived in even worse condition (both tops had screws missing and screw holes stripped so won't stay on with screws provided, cracks on all sides, dents, etc.). I asked for a return label so whomever can inspect and see how badly damaged they are coming from TX. Third replacement sent from New Jersey or maybe Virginia- I cannot remember. Arrived in perfect condition like the first did. Customer service could not be better, but I'd call to order this piece with customer service and beg that it comes NOT from Texas. Love the two working ones and recommend 100%... again, if not arriving from Texas! I'm sharing damaged photos of last one sent, but not of two we kept, b/c they fit description perfectly.. Christina. Before I even started building, I was impressed with the packaging. Everything was secure, clearly labeled, and they even included gloves to protect your hands while working with the metal. Much appreciated. You do not even need to hunt down a screwdriver, which is a nice touch. I checked the edges and felt a couple sharp spots on the inside, but after assembly, I could not find them anymore. They must be tucked away securely within the structure. They recommend two people for assembly, but I did it solo without a problem. I had to use my foot or lean something against the wall a couple of times, but overall it was very manageable alone. Now for the build. At first, I was skeptical. Some of the metal pieces seemed very thin, and I honestly did not think it would look good or feel sturdy. But it came together better than expected. Everything fit well except one piece that needed a little extra push, possibly due to a slightly thick metal coating. Once in place, it was fine. If you have larger hands, a few of the screws may be tricky to work with since they sit very close to the surrounding material, leaving little room to grip or turn comfortably. I'm very pleased with my recent purchase of the Inbox Zero Malaja 4-Drawer Locking Metal Vertical File Cabinet (black, without casters). I received the cabinet the day after the order was placed. item was well-packaged and undamaged, with all pieces enclosed. It took two people to assemble it. However, the instructions left a lot to be desired; a video would be more helpful - we actually found one online posted by another vendor and used it to confirm our setup. Due to space limitations, the cabinet is sitting in my L/R next to a large traditional piece of cherry wood furniture - and it actually blends in nicely.
