The lighthouse birdhouse is a spot-on replica of the famous located at the easternmost point of Long Island, New York. The construction of the lighthouse was authorized by none other than President George Washington and bears the distinction of being the first public works project of the United States. I’m very disappointed. I specifically picked this birdhouse because it shows in multiple pictures that it has a string attached to the top to hang it from a branch. The birdhouse I received while very cute does not have the string attached and instead has a bracket on the back to hang from a nail put into a tree. It’s a gift for my mom who is not allowed at her condo association to attach a birdhouse directly to a tree.
