Most familiar names (and those that used to be associated with quality) are not made in America anymore. For example: Reed and Barton, Onida, Lenox, Micasa, Kate Spade. The quality of these aforementioned brands has decreased dramatically. I would have loved to buy American: yet, I only found one company aptly named Liberty. This silverware is AMAZING. It feels and looks so luxurious to use. Nicest set I've ever owned. It has some weight to it, if that makes sense. Some heft. And it is beautiful on the table. It polishes up nicely and is clearly well-made. I feel like it will last for years. My cheaper utensils, specifically spoons have developed nicks and burrs. These are substantially made. I wish the packaging was nicer, because I was going to gift this set. The packaging is NOT gift worthy, to say the least. However, the product itself is 10 stars. I'm so disappointed. I truly wanted to love these and be in awe of such finery that they were supposed to be. The 18/10 is a good, balanced, heavy feel and the finish is really nice. However, the stamped design is very inconsistent, missing at times and smudged sideways at times, and there's several knicks on the handles. Literally every 5 piece set has multiple problems and it made me wonder if they sold me seconds! How could they possibly pass inspection?? What's worse, is this a replacement for the Mepra Dolce Vita flatware I purchased first, only I would have given that set 3 stars. I feel so frustrated. This is the first time in our married life(19 years) that we picked out and purchased flatware, and it's been disheartening to spend $1000 for what looks like beat up seconds when it was supposed to be fine, quality, family made flatware from Italy!.
