we had someone build it for us so i can’t comment on how hard it was to build, but it took him about 3 hours it is two separate pieces that do not connect so keep that in mind, we knew that before purchasing and it’s not an issue for us. wish the hooks weren’t so low so that we could sit on the bench, but it does the job and we love the way it looks! shoe compartments are a little narrow so some shoes need to be at an angle to fit, but they fit nonetheless ). This hall tree was the exact piece I was looking for our entryway! It wasnt difficult to assemble at all and once screwed together, it feels sturdy. I do recommend securing it to the wall for safety because it could be top heavy. Its helpful to have two people for assembly because it gets a bit heavy. Relatively easy to put together. The back panel was extremely frustrating, but is manageable once you take a moment to step away. Probably took me about an hour and a half. The end result turned out very well, the original delivery contained a broken part, the bench top did not have corresponding holes for the dowels, I called Customer Service, who were very responsive got me in touch with the manufacturer who sent out replacement bench .
