I purchased the LG LDTS5552S dishwasher and have experienced a persistent chemical odor since the beginning of ownership. The smell is difficult to describe precisely, but it resembles heated rubber, vinyl, petroleum products, or synthetic plastic. The odor becomes stronger as the dishwasher heats up and appears to be emitted from the lower vent area. The problem occurs even during normal operation without using the High Temp or Extra Dry settings. Over the past year I have tried numerous troubleshooting steps, including cleaning the filters repeatedly, running cycles without detergent, using dishwasher cleaning cycles, and removing additional plastic accessories from inside the machine. None of these actions resolved the issue. The dishes themselves do not retain the odor, but the heated air emitted by the dishwasher does. The smell is strong enough to travel beyond the kitchen and can sometimes be noticed on the second floor of the house. After more than a year of trying to live with this issue, I have stopped using the dishwasher altogether and returned to washing dishes by hand because I am not comfortable having my family continuously exposed to the odor. What concerns me most is that this odor appears whenever the appliance is heated, suggesting that materials inside the unit may be releasing volatile compounds into the air. I do not know whether LG has evaluated the long-term impact of breathing these emissions during routine daily use, but I believe this is a legitimate concern that deserves attention. I am disappointed because otherwise the dishwasher performs well. If LG is aware of this issue or has a solution, I would genuinely appreciate a response. The fridge is very sleek and well laid out to maximize the small space. Definitely has a few cons - the drawers feel flimsy. The middle freezer drawer tends to get stuck and we have to lift the other drawers to get it to go back in. The overall quality of the range has been excellent so far. We get compliments about it from all our guests and it really is a statement piece in the center of our kitchen. The only grip I have is that the burners do not turn down enough and the wok burner makes a strange humming sound at any level above 5 when any pan is placed above it. We are used to cooking with stainless cookware and the only usable burner for cooking on lower heat is the simmer burner. The others are just too intense. The grates are really heavy duty. This refrigerator is very stylish. We bought a counter depth.They are smaller but this one is very well appointed. The drawers slide so nice. Has a Deli drawer and a Butter keeper. Which most refrigerators no longer have. Helps to keep everything organized.The freezer has 2 drawers and really nice wire shelves on the door that bend out.
