The doors can be lifted up from the bottom and tilted out to remove them if needed. I had a hard time finding measurements of the inner storage spaces so here they are: The two cubbies behind the sliding doors each measure 22" wide x 8" tall x 11.5" depth (this measurement is without the adjustable shelf) The open shelf in the middle is 22" wide x 3" tall x 11.5" depth The inside of the drawer is 20.5" wide x 9.5" long x 5.75" tall. As for the color of the chairs they are more dark brown then just brown. With black strips to make the color more darker. Which works great because my table is light brown. Assembling the Modway Tahoe dining chairs was certainly a time-consuming job, yet I was extremely pleased that it was manageable as a one-person task. I successfully put together all three chairs in approximately two hours. The instructions were intuitive, making the individual assembly steps simple.
