The marble base is heavy, which is great for a freestanding coat tree. Some the screw holes were not pre-drilled large enough, so a small amount of hammering was necessary. Some of the small decorative pieces are very plastic-y, and the shape of the piece at the very top of the tree is odd, but otherwise the tree does what it is supposed to do, has a nice profile, and looks nice.. Very nice hall bench with storage, pretty much what we needed. However, it was a BEAR to put together (and my husband is super good at putting things together). It took all day, there were a bajillion parts, screws, etc. and the instructions weren't necessarily in order of what goes next. I like how it looks and functions but wish the area up top was deeper for baskets (of hats and gloves). Maybe if the whole thing was deeper, the bench is shallow.
