I honestly only purchased this knife because I wanted to see what the "extra wide" actually ment; as it is also offered in the chefs blade. It is slightly heavier than my other pairing knife (which i do prefer). By 'wide,' this refers more to the depth of the blade, versus if the blade makes a 'wider' cut. I'll try to post a photo of one of my regular pairing knives next to the extra wide one to help explain! This is the first stamped knife I have purchased as my other Zwilling knives are forged. I immediately tested my new knife cutting up veggies and am very pleased with its sharpness. If the blade edge holds up with day to day use, and edge is easy to maintain and keep sharp then this is truly an exceptional value for the price paid. I know that I could have spent a LOT more and perhaps gotten better quality, but these seem to have a great feel to them during use and come with a lifetime warranty. The real test will be edge retention and how often I will need to sharpen them with regular use. I am very happy with my purchase so far, and maybe if you were a professional chef you may require the very best, but for the average home cook, these are extremely nice for the price paid and I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family..
