Had we gone with the 13" we wouldn't have to touch up paint around it, but I also like that they aren't that noticeable and something bigger might have been too obtrusive as this is just a small rectangle between multiple rooms. It looks just like the picture. I bought 2 to put over my island, they are the perfect size, not too big and not to small. The smoked gray glass and gold blend beautifully. The only thing that I did not like, because it did not match, is the box that goes up to the ceiling, which is BLACK. That made the light fixture have to many colors and distracted from the beauty of the pendant. I painted it with the same ceiling white paint to wash it out. Now it's perfect.
