This moveable swamp cooler seems to work better at maintaining cooler air in conditions below 98 degrees F, smaller rooms, and with its back to a slightly open window. Design issues I liked: modestly sized, refillable from top, 6.6 gallon tank, water pump works well, 1800 CFM so decent power, water easily contained, various modes for modifying air quality, “ice boxes” for cooler air, cheaper than a similar national home improvement store version, cleanable air filter\cooler pad. What could be improved: air filters\water cooling pads on three sides instead of back only, low water warning system, more "ice boxes” to keep frozen and available for exchange on hotter days. This is such an upgrade from our 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner. We purchased this Danby because our old a/c unit started blowing hot air. After checking to see if it needed draining, filter cleaning, checking the hose for blockages, etc., we realized it was likely not worth trying to get it repaired. We've bought Danby products before but never a/c units. So far, it's doing a great job. We have it set up in our living room, which counts as two rooms if we were to carpet it and so far, it's keeping the space nice and cool. We live in an apartment, so this works really well. The true test will be how it lasts during some of the summer's longer heat waves, but as we're experiencing mini heat waves right now (that last maybe 2-3 days), I'm happy to say that it's doing a decent job. Oh, and it's super quiet. Our other a/c unit that we have in the bedroom runs a lot louder than this one and is maybe only a year old.
