King Quilt

Charming Sarah Block Party quilt is pieced together with antique prints and wovens sourced and reproduced from the Colonial Williamsburg archives for Craft & Forge. It reverses to an indigo ditsy dot, and is bound in indigo stripe fabric. Machine quilted in large diamonds. 100%  cotton, machine wash in cold water.

I originally purchased the pillow shams from this set, to spruce up a plain white quilt I had. After I received the shams, I had to have the quilt. As with the shams, the quilt’s patchwork is well designed and constructed coming out of the box. It went in the wash, and it held up nicely after coming out of the dryer so beautiful, warm, and fluffy. The description says the reverse side of the quilt is a “vintage red and indigo pinstripe”, which is inaccurate. The reverse side is actually cream colored, with little blue dots throughout. There are no redblue stripes on the back, which was a little disappointing (I like stripes). The King quilt dimensions are 108”x100”, which wasn’t mentioned in the description. It barely fit in my full size washer, so I have to wash the shams separately. This is a gorgeous quilt, and substantial enough not to need an extra layering blanket in the winter. My only real complaint is the price tag. This is a very expensive quilt, even after the 25 discount. Based on the quality and construction of the fabric, and the composition of the patterns, this quilt is definitely worth a higher price tag than your average quilt. However, considering the pillow shams are sold separately, and are also pretty expensive, I would never have bought this quilt if I didn’t already own, and love, the matching pillow shams. I bought two of these shams to add some color to my white quilted coverlet. There’s not much of a quilted pattern sewn into the sham, but the patchwork design is beautiful and very well made. I have mixed feelings about this set. I purchased it in beige, which no longer appears to be in stock. I’d scoured the internet for beige toile bedding, upon which my heart was set, and this was the ONLY set I found. Had there been available alternatives, I’d likely have returned this. Here’s why: First, I have an exceptionally large washer, but the comforter came out completely clumped and unusable. I returned it for a second set. Second, this comforter is not perfectly rectangular. It bugs me every morning when I make the bed. With bedding THIS costly, it should darn well be perfect. Lastly, and most importantly, the material from which this set is made is VERY stiff and coarse, the polar opposite of what most people want in bedding. I fold my comforter down to the end of the bed every night, and use an underneath comforter instead. It is gloriously soft, and is available here on Wayfair. I purchased it in wheat, and it looks great with my beige toile set. (Link is below.) Ultimately, even though I have my beefs, it still makes me really happy every time I look at the bed. BTW, I’m including a photo. I just moved in so haven’t had time to paint my room yet, so please forgive the lack of color coordination! It’s very temporary. UPDATE: I'm not sure why Wayfair removed my link to one of their own products, but anyway, the other comforter I mentioned that coordinates beautifully with this toile one is called the Reyna Microfiber 3-Piece Comforter Set.
