Love, love, love this set of flatware. I can't believe the price of this 12-piece setting that also includes steak knives. They are perfect for a fancy or casual setting. The pieces are a nice weight, the size of each piece is great, steak knives are sharp and the serving pieces are large. The are packaged well with each piece being individually wrapped in tissue paper along with heavy duty boxes. One note...they don't come with teaspoons, but not a big deal since the other spoons are long enough to use to stir sweetener if needed or you can order the Modern Pillar Moda Fine Flatware Iced Teaspoons which are a match which is what I plan to do.. The function of the Escargot 49 oz. Wine Decanter is based on the fact of a double aeration effect. The first aeration takes place when the wine is poured out of the bottle into the escargot decanter exposing the content of the bottle to oxygen. Lift the decanter from horizontal to a vertical position to fill the decanter. The second contact with oxygen is triggered when the wine is poured out of the Escargot decanter into the glass. When pouring hold the decanter by the oval indent for conveyance. The decanter construction forces fresh air through the already decanted wine a second time to fill the air space in the decanter. This second aeration process creates a bubbling gurgle when the air is forced through the neck of the escargot decanter.

It holds 37-1/8 ounces, ample for a 750-milliliter bottle of wine, and measures 9 inches high. Its graceful, outwardly curved neck provides a secure grip when pouring. crystal is used by fine restaurants all over the world and thus must stand up to frequent trips through a dishwasher. But because lead crystal has a soft, coarse surface to convey intense aromas, recommends the decanter be hand washed.
