Self-tapping wood screws and a placement template are included. Laminates are scratch, stain, and scald resistant and wipe clean easily. The base is constructed of a black tubular steel T-Base and is protected with a black powder-coated finish for a uniform, matte finish. The template was incorrect but I was able to figure that out and put the legs on correctly - it would have toppled over had I put it together based on the template.
