It lays fairly flat, but you’ll definitely want a rug pad or some heavier furniture on it to keep it from sliding around. I like this rug in person even better than I did on the website. It's thin enough that my front door will go right over the top of it. It came delivered in plenty of plastic which was good since it rained that day. I have put it in front of my door so that when it does rain we won't slip on the ceramic tile flooring. This rug is GORGEOUS! It is so much prettier than the website photos. The colors are a bit more muted, which I love. It has a very soft feel underfoot but is thinner for under my dining table.
