It sits out far enough from the table to not be in the way but close enough to be usable. I do wish it was a bit easier to adjust. I also wish it said to put something between the table and the arm so it doesn't scratch the table. All the hardware came with it. It is nice and sturdy but you have to save the tools to adjust it.
