I found the same item on another (much more expensive) website before I found the exact same thing here at a substantially better price (kicking myself over that one). This lantern is just beautiful in both day and night environments, but especially at night, when the colors reflect on the surface the lantern is sitting on. The solar bulb is bright, allowing for the beautiful reflective design. The thickness of the glass is substantial -- it doesn't feel like it will break easily. I wonderd whether a 40 watt bulb would give out enough light but it is just perfect for ambience, In fact, I used the dimmer to soften the light a bit more. The only caution I would have is that you can see the bare bulb when you are standing up and looking directly down on the lamp, Therefore, I don't have it on an end table that is chair height (the glare would bother me).
