It's like the once assembled you cannot lift it as the top 3/4 of the column is heavier than the base causing it to separate. I am devastated as I just love this lamp. This was my original review....This is a gorgeous lamp and it was super easy to assemble. The linen looking shade compliments the lamp perfectly and I couldn’t wait to buy a bulb to turn it on. This lamp turned out perfect for what I needed. I liked that the lampshade was whiter than it looked onscreen, and it was easy to put together. It definitely has a nice weight to it, thanks to the marble insert on the base. Overall, I think its a little overpriced... its a dupe of a high end look, but I don't think it needs to be this price as a dupe. As with a lot of 'brass' items, its a brushed on effect and on close inspection it doesn't look as good a real brass. Its fine for the purpose and it suits my dining chairs which have the same effect. I didn't love that it went on sale after I ordered but before it was delivered....grrrr! it arrives in two boxes - one with the base and the shade, and the other with the arc pole. also comes with a bulb and has a dimmer.
