The sign is metal but very fragile. I did not care for the way it was packed in the box, when I opened it, it had so much plastic wrap it was hard to remove and the sign bent in the process. I was able to bend it back. It should be wrapped in just bubble wrap, easier to get to. I hung it by using 2 small nails in the loop of the letter F and letter L. He was easy to put together. The ears and rack fit in very snuggly in the slots provided so they do not move. If one wanted to they could use some wood glue and make the attachment more permanent.
