H.M.S. Sovereign of the Seas, launched in 1637, was the most powerfully armed ship in the world in its day. It was originally going to have 90 guns, but King Charles I personally insisted that a ''great ship'' be built for the English Royal Navy, so it went to sea with 102 bronze guns. The vessel was the most extravagantly decorated warship in the Royal Navy, completely adorned from stern to bow with gilded carvings. The ship was later renamed Sovereign and then Royal Sovereign. It was destroyed by fire in 1697 in Chatham.

This model is a smaller-scale version of a much larger version such as the USS Constitution 36" and the 56". The model is handcrafted from beautiful wood such as rosewood, mahogany, teak, and along with various other exotic wood. The hull is constructed using a plank-on-frame method, each strip of exotic wood is carefully joined together to form a smooth hull. This model is completely hand-built to spec by skillful and creative master craftsmen; you will be amazed at how real it looks. The ship has a clear varnished coating followed by amazing details. On the ship, you will spot amazing details such as wooden bowsprit, foremast, mainmast, and mizzen mast. They are all connected to numerous fabric sails with detailed stitching, all rigging is painstakingly fastened by hand in matching colors. There's a small wooden cabin with a wooden boat on the main deck. On the quarter-deck, there's a wooden cabin. There are wooden fences surrounding the teak deck area toward the quarter deck area. You can easily spot a large number of cannons on both sides of the hull, and other crafted parts on the front and back of the ship. There's also a wooden rudder to help the ship maneuver in the right direction. An attached wooden stand with a nameplate engraved "USS Constitution" is standard on this model. The model was built according to scale through original plans, pictures, and drawings. Manufacturers absolutely use no plastic parts only the highest quality wood parts. This model is carefully secure and packed inside a wooden crate for easy shipping purposes.

After the end of World War I, Americas Cup racing resumed with a new set of rules designed to balance hull length, sail area, and hull shape to produce safer and more seaworthy boats. Designers also replaced the traditional gaff-rigged topsail and mainsail with a single triangular sail that rose straight to the top of the mast, known as a Bermuda or Marconi rig. In the late 1920s, a large jib, known as a Genoa, was added. These developments found application to the huge racing yachts known as the J-class of boats which were designed to have a 75 to 87 foot water line. Nothing like them had ever been seen before; no yachts so awesome have been built since. Only 10 of these soaring beauties were ever built. The great depression made them obsolete because of their cost. But during the heyday of international cup racing, they represented the epitome of the racing yacht. They were designed to sacrifice simplicity for speed, requiring large crews, special tackle, and geared winches. Their parachute spinnakers, as large as 18,000 square feet, were the largest sails ever made. Sir Thomas Lipton announced that he would challenge again for the Americas cup in 1930 and ordered the construction of a J-class boat designated as Shamrock V. Four syndicates of Americans responded by commissioning, at great cost, their own contenders. Starling Burgess led the effort for one of the New York syndicates. He promptly engaged the Wizard of Bristol, Nat Herreshoff, dean of American yacht designing, as his adviser. Together, they designed the largest and fastest racing machine ever seen and named her the Enterprise. This great and gorgeous J-boat was eighty feet long at the water line and sported a heavy keel with two centerboards. Her great 162-foot mast tapered from one and one-half feet at the base to nine inches at the top. It was made of two hollow tubes of aluminum and was supported by a large array of stays and rigging. Below deck she had two dozen winches for handling lines. Enterprise made short work of the other three would-be defenders of the Cup and was chosen to take on Shamrock V off Newport, Rhode Island. There, in September 1930, she went on to win a clean sweep of four races, maintaining the 80 year record of uninterrupted possession of Americas Cup.

Built primarily with dense southern live oak, its hull was 21 inches thick in an era when 18 inches was common. Paul revere forged the copper spikes and bolts that held the planks in place. The 204-foot-long ship was first put to sea in 1798 and its most famous era of naval warfare was the War of 1812 against Britain when it captured numerous merchant ships and defeated five warships, including the H.M.S. Guerriere. It was during the ferocious battle with the Guerriere that British seamen, astonished at how their cannonballs were bouncing off the constitution's hull, cried out, ''Sir, her sides are made from iron'' hence, the nickname, ''old ironsides.'' the constitution today is a national landmark and is docked in boston.
Impressive model! I haven't even removed it from the packaging as yet. I am a woodworker and planning to construct a case for it as I did for the Independence, a model I finished this year. Only question I have is about the masts when first received. Upon opening the top of the shipping box I remember all the sails were 90 degrees to the hull. Now after 2 days, all the sails are 30 degrees to the left. I included a shot looking down at the model. I was interested to know if others have noticed this or am I mistaken? Also found this after unpacking (see picture) of rear mast warped at top. The other noticeable item was the size of the rigging blocks, obviously too large but can be overlooked as they seem to accentuate the model when viewed as a whole.. Greg. Gilroy, CA. The Friesland was part of the great fleet of the united province of holland. She was a second-rank vessel, built around 1663 with 80 guns. In 1672, she took part, under the command of de Ruyter's command, along with 77 other vessels, in the battle of solebay, against the allied anglo-french forces. The name of the Cutty Sark tall ship comes from the short shirt worn by the flee-footed witch in the Robert Burns Poem, Tam o'Shanter. Designed by Hercules Linton in Dumbarton, Scotland, the Cutty Sark was launched in 1869. The Cutty Sark was initially designed and meant for trading tea with China. Crafted to race across the globe to sack immense profits before other European traders, the Cutty Sark was built for speed. In the memorable race between the Cutty Sark and Thermopylae in 1872, the Cutty Sark lost her rudder after passing through the Sunda Straight and arrived in London a week after their competitor. What makes the Cutty Sark the hero of this race was that she continued the race with a makeshift rudder instead of putting into port for repairs, and in spite of that only lost by a week. Inevitably, the clipper ships lost out to the more powerful steam boats, which were more reliable, and thus returned goods more consistently. The Cutty Sark won the reputation as the fastest ship in her size when she ran 360 nautical miles in 24 hours during a run for Australian Wool trade. The Cutty Sark is the world's sole surviving extreme slipper, with the majority of her hull fabric surviving from her original construction in the 1860s. The Cutty Sark is preserved as a museum ship in Greenwich, which is in south-east London.
Very nice model, well detailed, intricate rigging, however the life boats are definitely not to scale, and seems to be made out of some kind of composite material almost a plastic feel to it, everything else looks great. Anonymous. Fri Apr 05 2024

The San Felipe was one of the most beautiful Spanish ships in the 1600s. Launched in 1690, it had 96 cannons and was the lead ship of the feared Spanish Armada. It was powerful enough to go up against the most formidable ships in the French and British navies. In 1705, the San Felipe and 11 other Spanish ships waged a furious and heroic battle against 35 British ships. After 24 hours of fighting, the San Felipe was captured but was so badly damaged that it could not be salvaged as a prize. It sank with several tons of gold.

I have never had a batch disposal before. I have always had the traditional ones that require a switch to turn on. The only real issue (and its not much of one) is with how our sink is in the kitchen island there isn't a good spot to set the plunger when not in use other than in the sink itself. It is powerful and I am really happy how well it does its job. There is no flap that covers the opening to the drain like on traditional disposals. I thought this would be an issue having it open and silverware falling in. With our drain off to the right it really has not been a problem. Although I did have a fork fall into it the fact that the disposals "neck" between the sink and the bottom is long so the fork never fully fell into the disposal it just stood straight up. Also not having that flap covering the disposal makes it much easier to see at a glance if anything has made its way in that should be there. It is noisy but not bad, just as I expected as from traditional. I like the safety of it not turning on unless the plunger is in. We have young kiddos. Just makes me feel better. I would recommend but it does take a little getting used if you are used to the traditional disposals. Happy with my purchase.. Julie. Griswold, IA. Wed Jan 19 2022

The name Riva is synonymous with elegance, class, and premier European craftsmanship, Riva has been one of the world's leading producers in high quality speed boats since the 1950s. The Riva name dates back through the 1840s, where Pietro Riva began to fashion boats in a small northern Italian town called Sarnico. Pietro's grandson, Carlo, would be the figurehead of the Riva Speed Boating legend. In the 1950s, Carlo Riva began to produce elegant wooden speed boats of unquestionably superior style and quality. The Riva Aquarama was the undisputed flagship of Riva's line. Becoming more than just a boat, the beautiful Aquarama was a social symbol of the highest class, style, wealth, and most notably, power. Based on the Aquarama, the Riva Rivarama is a supreme class open cruiser and a design masterpiece. Every detail on the Riva Rivarama is beyond exceptional and she provides tremendous comfort and an abundance of options over her entire 44 feet of length. Again, Riva accentuates the use of exotic and precious materials, as is customary for all of their speedboats, the most luxurious of their class. The Riva Rivarama comes equipped with a MAN R6-800 CRM, 800 horsepower engine. The massive 17-ton speedboat can reach a ridiculous 40 knots/hour.

USS Constellation was a 38-gun frigate and the first ship to be commissioned in the United States Navy. She was distinguished as the first U.S. Navy vessel to put to sea and the first U.S. Navy vessel to engage, defeat, and capture an enemy vessel. Constellation was one of the six original frigates authorized for construction by the Naval Act of 1794. The original USS Constellation was constructed in 1797 by Joshua Humphreys and broken up for scrap in 1853 in Gosport Navy Yard in Norfolk, Virginia at the same time as the keel was laid for what would later be known as the second USS Constellation. In the later half of the 20th Century, the 1854 version was thought to be the 1797 version as the city of Baltimore promoted the ship as the original and some naval historians believed the Baltimore ship to be the rebuilt original. The paper ''Fouled Anchors: The Constellation Question Answered'', by Dana M. Wegner, et al., published by the Navys David Taylor Research Center in 1991, concludes that they are different ships. The conclusive proof came during the renovation of the ship in Baltimore concluding in 1999 in which all evidence pointed to the construction of an entirely new sloop-of-war from the 1850s era and not the 1797 ship.

The Constellation, designed by John Lenthall, was launched in baltimore on September 7, 1797. On February 5, 1799. She was captured the French 36 gun frigate ''LInsurgente'' off the island of Nevis in the West indies. She remained in service until 1854 when she was broken up at Norfolk, Virginia. Re-commissioned in 1940, she served as relief flagship for the Atlantic fleet and the Battleship Division Five from 1941 to 1943. She is currently afloat at Baltimores Inner Harbor.

The SS United States (also known as ''The Big U'') is an ocean liner built in 1952 for the United States Lines. At 53,329 gross tons, she is the largest ocean liner to date built entirely in the United States and still holds the record for the fastest westbound transatlantic crossing. In 1952, on her maiden voyage as the new flagship of the United States Lines, the United States captured the Blue Riband with the fastest eastbound and westbound transatlantic crossings on record (11 July–15 July, 3 days, 12 hours, 12 minutes). The entry of the United States marked the first time since the Baltic a century earlier that a U.S.-flagged ship held the Blue Riband, surpassing European speed records which had stood for decades. The United States lost the eastbound record in 1990, but still holds the westbound record, and remains the fastest ocean liner to cross in either direction. The United States plied the transatlantic with passenger service until 1969, and she outlasted the demise of her original owners. The ship is currently docked in Philadelphia until a decision is made about her fate

A coal-carrying merchant ship operating on the coast of England, named the Bethia, was purchased by the Admiralty, renamed the Bounty, and re-commissioned in 1787 for a special mission. She was to sail halfway around the world to Tahiti, collect sapling breadfruit trees, and transport them to the West Indies. Owners of the burgeoning British plantations there needed a cheap source of food for the workers.
Excellent sale / HMS Bounty / Old Modern Handicrafts. Love it ! Outstanding craftsmanship. Beautiful woods. The rigging is incredible. The sails are perfect. So many small fittings add richness to this amazing work of art. The attention to detail is remarkable. Expert packing. It came boxed with an interior wood crate and all I needed was a screw driver to pry the small nails holding the frame in place around the ship which was tied off inside the frame and cushioned with styrofoam. OMH provides directions inside the Certificate of Authenticity envelope and I recommend looking at that first. The ship itself was fully assembled with the exception of the front mast which locks and hooks into place as per the instruction. There are 3 screws to hold the ship to the wood base that were easy to tighten with the allen wrench enclosed. Fast FedEx free shipping. I could not be happier with my purchase. Great product. Highly recommended seller. Thank you !. Anne. Point Pleasant, NJ. Sun Feb 18 2024

This model is simple, but stunning! It is a replica of a Boston Tender, a classic rowing boat believed to have originated along the New York waterfront in the early 1800s. Some hold that the Whitehall rowing boat design was introduced from England. However the famed nautical historian Howard I. Chappelle cites the opinion of the late W. P. Stephens that in New York City there is a Whitehall Street and this was where the Whitehall was first built. Chappelle, Stephens and others agree that the design came into existence sometime in the 1820's in New York City, having first been built by navy yard apprentices who had derived their model to some extent from the old naval gig.

The Amerigo Vespucci is a tall ship of the Marina Militare, named after the explorer Amerigo Vespucci. The first of these two ships, the Cristoforo Colombo, was put into service in 1928 and was used by the Italian navy until 1943. After world war II, this ship was handed over to the USSR as part of the war reparations and was shortly afterwards decommissioned. The Amerigo Vespucci in the harbor of New York, 1976The second ship of the design was the amerigo vespucci. The ship was built in 1930 at the (formerly royal) naval shipyard of Castellammare di Stabia (Naples). She was launched on February 22, 1931, and was put into service in July of that year. The vessel is a full rigged three masted steel hull 82.4 m (270.34 ft) long, with an overall length of 101 m (331 ft) including the bowsprit and a maximum width of 15.5 m (51 ft). She has a draught of about 7 metres (23 ft) and a displacement at full load of 4146 tons. Under auxiliary diesel-electric propulsion power, the amerigo vespucci reaches a top speed of 10 knots and has an autonomy of 5450 nm (at 6.5 knots).
