We got the twin sized mattress pad, and plan to cut it down to fit a bunk bed in our RV. I think because the pockets on the cover are so deep, it should go around the original mattress and the pad to keep it all in place. We first tried this over a firm latex pad, and it did not add much noticeable improvement in thickness or softness. Next, we tried this down pad over a 2 inch thick foam pad, and it made all the difference! I am not at all a fan of foam pads. However, using this topper over the foam pad makes the foam less susceptible to sinking! Love it! This topper is a dream! I was a little apprehensive at first due to the reviews of it changing colors and staining. I’ve had a topper before that changed colors and never stained so I gave it a shot.
