I spent quite some time looking to purchase an aquarium stand or cabinet for a very special custom built aquarium that I inherited from a friend. Many styles and quite the range of prices- into the thousands ! Nothing quite hit the marks either in style or design or weight capacity until I found this one. It’s heavy and will take you some time to assemble.They recommend 2 people- which I don’t have - however, I managed to move the heavy box- I estimate 100 pounds- inside by myself. The directions were long - over 10 pages- but were actually very organized and understandable- shocking!! Working alone and meticulously I was able to complete the assembly - assembly took me roughly 6 hours - building at a leisurely pace- making sure to follow the steps exactly. The stand is a beast - it’s over built with metal supports and legs- overkill amount of bolts holding it together and solid panels framing it all. Rating it at a 1500lb capacity is probably accurate. VERY easy to put together and exactly what I was looking for. They are solid, have glass doors, which is a huge plus for those critters that will scratch up plexiglass. I bought 4 of these and might be back for 2 more before the price increases. I actually attached 2 of them together for my Ackie monitor and she absolutely loves it. I built them separately but cut a passthrough hole in 2 of the side pieces where they would be connected. Screwed them together and used silicone to seal it before painting the inside of the enclosure. I also added a piece of wood to the inside where the bottom metal screen is to make a high substrate barrier. This gave her a 62x15x15 enclosure for a LOT less than other options out there! Also, I am able to get away with a 25w halogen lamp for basking!!!! That in itself is absolutely amazing! We went down from a 150w light in her previous enclosure. It's easy to install lighting inside, just be aware of your temperatures, wattage, etc. Always use cage guards to protect your critters, ceramic bulb bases and it's always a good idea to use a heat shield. For my basking light I used the Arcadia Reptile clamp lamp which comes with a bulb cage guard and different mounting options. I also have a LED UVB strip light on the basking side and a basic non UVB LED strip light on the far right side of the enclosure.
