Absolutely love this refrigerator. It is my first counter-depth refrigerator and I was very concerned there would not be enough room to store all our food in it. I purchased the LG LDTS5552S dishwasher and have experienced a persistent chemical odor since the beginning of ownership. The smell is difficult to describe precisely, but it resembles heated rubber, vinyl, petroleum products, or synthetic plastic. The odor becomes stronger as the dishwasher heats up and appears to be emitted from the lower vent area. The problem occurs even during normal operation without using the High Temp or Extra Dry settings. Over the past year I have tried numerous troubleshooting steps, including cleaning the filters repeatedly, running cycles without detergent, using dishwasher cleaning cycles, and removing additional plastic accessories from inside the machine. None of these actions resolved the issue. The dishes themselves do not retain the odor, but the heated air emitted by the dishwasher does. The smell is strong enough to travel beyond the kitchen and can sometimes be noticed on the second floor of the house. After more than a year of trying to live with this issue, I have stopped using the dishwasher altogether and returned to washing dishes by hand because I am not comfortable having my family continuously exposed to the odor. What concerns me most is that this odor appears whenever the appliance is heated, suggesting that materials inside the unit may be releasing volatile compounds into the air. I do not know whether LG has evaluated the long-term impact of breathing these emissions during routine daily use, but I believe this is a legitimate concern that deserves attention. I am disappointed because otherwise the dishwasher performs well. If LG is aware of this issue or has a solution, I would genuinely appreciate a response. I could not find the 28 inch wide option anywhere but here! We have double doors and the right side is max 28 inches. Came packaged really well! They were wrapped and then taped to a wood board and then wrapped in thick cardboard. No dents or bends!!! (I was worried about shipping!). I got the peel and stick option because we were not sure how well we would be able to drill into our 1960's doors. Wanted kick plates because the very bottom of the old wood doors is starting to weather. My only complaint is that the mounting tape goes across the back in three strips (from end to end) and the tape goes up to the edge so it's kind of visible. I didn't try to peel it back before mounting because I did not want to dent or bend the plate. I doubt many people would even notice, but things like that tend to stand out to me. I'm going to try to push it back/tuck it in a little with a small screwdriver or knife or something....if it does bother me that much. Mounting was super simple btw!!!! And it's holding well.. Beth.
