Update 121625 - Ok, Doors have been installed now my husband will put holes in for the doors for the handle hardware and wait for our warmer weather to paint doors (black). He will paint the trim and doors black. But these doors provide such a much more expensive and quality look. The contrast between the original doors and these 5 panel doors are night and day and the soundproofing is sooo much better. We have a open concept home and to have the solid core makes such a difference. So much so we were going to leave one of our doors that is not seen in the main area original but he had me order another one today. I will say these doors were prices extremely well over the big box stores or any competitor. I can not express how much these doors have increased not only the value of our home but the beauty. Original 111425 My husband has been disappointed with the current doors we have in home (hollow core and plain). Our home is an open plan and the doors being as they are you hear everything and this was his biggest complaint outside of the fact that they were plain and ugly. He saw these and had me order three of them immediately. First assessment, well packaged and secured. The doors are very heavy and sturdy. The style is just what I was looking for with the five panels. We are waiting on the installer and I will update pictures once complete. We are very pleased with this purchase, well worth it.. First impression: Very nice workmanship, color and texture very nice, dimensions highly accurate and consistent. Unexpected: The wood is not painted but somehow shrink wrapped in a clever textured durable plastic wrap that completely fools the perception that it is anything but paint. Triming: Cutting the bottom to vertical size with a hand jigsaw is not a problem. That revealed the durable plastic wrap was actually not paint. I have no idea if painting the wrap would be ok or not. Fitment into the closet cutout: My closet frame was poorly constructed by the builder. The frame is taller on the right side than on the left, and neither vertical side is actually square. Both tops are skewed to the right relative to the footing, and the right side frame is taller than the left. This made it a real challenge to installation and left me with unappealing visual gaps. My options were rework the top left closet frame (big job, messy, drywall and mudding involved, painting afterwards) so I vetoed that idea, or take off the left doors and use a planing sander to bevel the doors to conform to the distorted frame (vetoed that idea because of tricky and only get once to get it right), or cosmetically hide the visual distortion by using a fascia treatment on the doors repurposing inexpensive plastic self-adhesive door sweeps and that worked easily and generally is quite appealing as a workable solution. Recommendation to the manufacturer: Review my photos to understand how my solution suggests you include accessory plastic fascias for cosmetic treatments when fitment to closet frames is difficult. Overall: I struggled a lot to get a good installation but attribute it to my closet framing poorly constructed. The end result looks and functions very nicely, especially after applying my door sweeps fascia treatments. I include a final after-treatment photo. Aesthetically the bifold door is absolutely beautiful. Its heavy and well made. However, I do not like the placement of the knob as it is somewhat difficult to open without putting your hand towards the top bend of the door to help open it.
