The hidden water feature inside the doors leaves room for more pictures and eliminates the possibility of water splashing on pictures or all across the kitchen. The refrigerator is versatile and perfect for our large family. "Fridge Jenga" is something we are very accustomed to, having a fridge with shelves that can move is very accommodating for us as we like to buy bulk. Having the option for an ice maker in the freezer and not in the fridge while keeping the water feature leaves so much more space that we desperately need. When we could no longer ignore the need to replace the rattly old wheezebucket I started shopping and discovered that we could replace Ol' Stinky with what was essentially the same unit, or spend a little more and get a Bosch. We've had a Bosch dishwasher for over 10 years and have never had a problem, so I was leaning towards believing the "hype" that accompanies this brand in the U.S. I bought the Bosch. This thing is somehow dignified. It looks almost regal shoved into its little corner of our kitchen. It's quiet, the icemaker actually works without scaring the entire household with little grinding explosions every 45 minutes and the temperatures in the refrigerator and freezer stay consistent. This is a WINNER for the price. Color a refrigerator wraps around the sides gives you two handles to choose from. You don’t have to put a cheesy decals on it so it looks really high-end. I will note the brass golden color handles are actually not golden but a light yellow color that has a black wash on top of it so they don’t appear gold but they don’t appear any color I’ve ever seen really but they go well with lots of things.. This refrigerator replaced a 22 year old Artica GE Side by Side. I had kept the Artica going for all these years, but got tired of the defrost heater burning out what I consider to be too often? I purchased OEM one's, but the last one lasted about 14 months and it was a GE one. Don't know why they don't last any better? Anyway said goodbye to the old girl that served us pretty well for those 22 years. The ice maker had failed and had developed an internal leak I could not find and fix, so we lived without that for several of it's last years. Now, this new one is HUGE at 28.3 The old one was about 25 cu. ft. Actually, I hated the dark tunnel of the Artica Side by Side. Could not find things back in there! This new one is great from that standpoint with the lighted back panel, you can see everything in there. Like the convertible part and the drawers in the freezer section. I've read that the ice makers in GE refrigerators are troublesome compared to other brands? I hope it is trouble free, but all of that is unknown just after purchase and setup. The old Artica was built like a tank. The shelving was sturdy. This new one has shelving and door trays that are a bit less robust. I hope they stand up as well as the old Profile Artica? I love this frig. Had it for a week now. It is perfect and HUGE. The description says yes for Door in door, but it does not have that. I was not interested in that feature anyways. I love the lock feature for the water and ice (for toddler use prevention) The delivery Guys were so efficient and informative.
