This refrigerator replaced a 22 year old Artica GE Side by Side. I had kept the Artica going for all these years, but got tired of the defrost heater burning out what I consider to be too often? I purchased OEM one's, but the last one lasted about 14 months and it was a GE one. Don't know why they don't last any better? Anyway said goodbye to the old girl that served us pretty well for those 22 years. The ice maker had failed and had developed an internal leak I could not find and fix, so we lived without that for several of it's last years. Now, this new one is HUGE at 28.3 The old one was about 25 cu. ft. Actually, I hated the dark tunnel of the Artica Side by Side. Could not find things back in there! This new one is great from that standpoint with the lighted back panel, you can see everything in there. Like the convertible part and the drawers in the freezer section. I've read that the ice makers in GE refrigerators are troublesome compared to other brands? I hope it is trouble free, but all of that is unknown just after purchase and setup. The old Artica was built like a tank. The shelving was sturdy. This new one has shelving and door trays that are a bit less robust. I hope they stand up as well as the old Profile Artica? I love this counter depth refrigerator. We received it a few weeks later than originally scheduled, but it was better than not getting it at all. Thanks goodness for Wayfair! But I was able to send a video to the tech and the part was ordered and received. I love the fact that you don’t see fingerprints. Very high quality door and provides a beautiful amount of natural light to enter the room. The packaging they put on them is top notch. Tuns and tuns of styrofoam to prevent damage during shipping. But on one of my doors there was obvious damage from handling prior to shipping or maybe quality control. There were about 4 nicks all on the ridge of the corner. One in particular was very apparent especially in this solid wood frame. Luckily wayfair is top notch at making sure these problems get resolved properly and fairly and refunded me 50%-their quality of resolution is why I continue to shop with them. I got a 24 and 18 but the actual size is a quarter in smaller roughly than that width. As well as a bit shorter. For me it doesn’t matter but maybe for someone else that would. Personally if I hadn’t already done my other doors in a different style I’d do every single one with these. Plus most doors are 1 3/8 thick and these are 1 3/4 they are a very nice quality door..
