The Bolt Down bracket system enables pergola owners to mount their pergola safely and securely to a wood deck or cement patio. Simply measure your footprint and bolt the galvanized steel brackets into place. Insert 4 x 4 (10cm x 10cm) pressure-treated wood posts (purchased separately) into the brackets and screw them in place. Slide your pergola posts over the wood posts, and screw the pergola posts into the wood. The result is a lasting installation that is safe and rigid. This mounting system was specifically designed for Vita brand pergolas. We highly recommend that if you are installing any of these vinyl Pergolas on a flat surface, you purchase this kit. The mounting system comes with brackets and 1.5” (3.8cm) self-tapping screws. The bolt-down brackets are guaranteed for 5 years against defects. Important note: do not use the bolt-down bracket system for installing the pergola over concrete pavers, patio stones, or interlocking bricks. Extra materials are required depending on the type of installation, you will be required to purchase the following hardware: if mounting the Pergola onto an existing concrete surface: 1/4” x 2 3/4” cement screws, countersunk head (12), 3/16” concrete drill bit. Minimum 3” long (1), 4 x 4 x ?* pressure-treated wood posts if used for a Pergola (4) (length depends on the pergola selected) 1/2” x 3 1/2“ x 12” long wood shims to “build-out” posts (32). If mounting pergola onto a wooden or composite deck with an accessible underside: 1/4” x ?” bolts and nuts countersunk head (12), 1/4” washers (12) (length depends on blocking material), 1/4” wood drill bit. Minimum 3” long (1), 4 x 4 x ?* pressure-treated wood posts if used for a pergola (4). (length depends on the pergola selected), 1/2” x 3 1/2“ x 12” long wood shims to “build-out” posts (32). Tools required: power or hammer drill (impact) with proper bit according to installation preference. Approx. Time commitment: 1 person, 1-2 hours.

I absolutely love this pergola kit to do your own over a patio space, but, the instructions in giving one any kind of direction on how long it takes and really showing someone what they have to do were so, so poor. Said it would take a half hour. How about a couple of hours just to figure out how long the would needs to be then a day and a half to actually finish it. Not everyone is going to have a stone patio already in place so we will take some time away for that portion. We used redwood 4 x 4’s and had to remove the stones already in place and we took deck blocks and made it so they went upside down and placed them in the three holes we had removed the stones from so we could drill and place the hardware on the deck blocks to make them secure. The one thing that we found when trying to attach them into concrete there is not enough room to attach your hardware to it. So you have to drill your hole with a concrete 716th drill bit which also not mentioned so we had to buy a couple sizes till we had that figured out and then the picture shows us putting it into the metal piece and then hammering it into the wholes where it expands and holds it in place like a milky screw does in drywall. The other thing was how easily the screw heads would just snap off when you started screwing them into the wood. They give you plenty of hardware but we still had to go buy more as that was a huge issue so many broke and found no instructions on where to really start placement of pieces. We had to take sections apart just to attach a piece that was already in place to have the 4 x 4. If my daughter in law wasn’t good at figuring this out I might be on it for a few months, she did a beautiful job and it looks amazing and I can’t wait to put up lights next to give the ambiance I’m looking for. Do better with instructions and better hardware . An amateur would get so frustrated trying to get those screws into the cement to make it secure we did a lot of “You tube videos to get it done.
