We're overall very happy with the bookshelf and cube system. It looks great in our family room and corrals our kids' toys. We like that the bookshelf holds a lot of books and is easy for our toddler to utilize. The drawer below the bookshelf pulls out easily and fits lots of stuffed animals. You get what you pay for… this dresser is described as solid pine wood so you’d think it would be solid and sturdy. Once fully assembled it is sturdy given its boxy frame however the wood pieces are questionable on their own. It took two adults about 2 hours to fully assemble this dresser. Mostly because putting the drawers together was exhausting. We gave up at the point of the removable changing topper because we were tired and just never got around to adding it. Overall it’s a beautiful dresser. However, the finish is of an uneven texture. Running my hand along the surface, the finish goes from silky smooth to rough, as though that side was not sanded properly prior to painting. It’s noticeable enough that I’ve opted to have a glass top made. One of the drawers has cracks on the bottom, necessitating drawer paper to camouflage. I took my time selecting a bookshelf, and I’m glad I did. Here’s why this one was a great choice for us it’s the right height for children aged 1-6 it holds about 25-30 board books it’s simple attractive and— most importantly— the shelves are *angled.* why is this important So your books don’t fall forward! I found very, very few bookshelves that actually have this feature. NOTE the slats are not very strong, and the assembly of the slats was time-consuming and relatively frustrating.. Carolyn.
