Hand-knotted in wool and originating in France circa 1880-1890, this 14x16 Antique French Savonnerie rug is a rare 19th century masterpiece from Rug & Kilim’s European rug collection. On the Design: A distinguished example of 19th-century French artistry, this exquisite Savonnerie rug exemplifies the neoclassical inspiration with tasteful elegance. A graceful circular medallion filled with floral rosettes, encircled by concentric ornamental bands is set against a tan field. So this was a tried and true product. The instructions are not clear nor easy to follow. The assembly took all day with three people working on this. My husband who is quite handy was very concerned about the weight as the crystals (125) which are large and quite heavy. Also, the light bulbs (not included) are difficult to find (E14) and needed to be ordered online as were not available in any store. The chandelier is stunning. Our daughter remarked that for the price listed and the amount of work needed to assemble and hang it doesn’t validate the cost.
