Decanting young wines several hours before they are served gives the wine a chance to bloom and attain a stage of development that normally requires years of aging.

I would like to experience more red wine, and a decanter is a perfect way to share the experience with friends. This decanter is absolutely gorgeous, everything you come to expect from Riedel in design and quality. It is both solid yet delicate, and the glass is beautifully clear with no imperfections. Nice piece, but it's really more of an institutional item and assumes that you are replacing an existing urinal or have framing in place to accommodate an install. Installing this in a dry-walled garage, for instance, will take some doing including cutting away drywall and add 2x4 supports.
