It's lovely material, but the install was initially pretty (conceptually) tough. Screwed up with the adhesive and had to order another piece of this. The main thing that saved the final install was using a (cordless) nailer, which made it a lot easier. If you don't have one, recommend to borrow one from a friend (hopefully you already have one). If you don't use a nailer, try to find the least obtrusive finish nails / use a precision finish tool (not sure what it is called but it's a little thing you use with a hammer to push the nail heads deeper, but not so that you dent the moulding) to submerge the nail heads. When you paint this, also recommend to start with the little domes and really work around them so paint does not pool. Finish the rest of the paint job with swipes in parallel to the length of the 'board'. I ended up using four coats of paint...it was worth it. Your mileage may vary! Ekena Millwork ceiling medallion collections are modeled after original historical patterns and designs. Ekena Millwork artisans then hand carve an original piece. Being hand-carved each piece is richly detailed with deep relief, sharp lines, and a truly unique touch. That masterpiece is then used to create a mold master. Once the mold master is created Ekena Millwork uses Ekena Millwork high-density urethane foam to form each medallion. The finished look is a beautifully detailed, lightweight, solid construction, focal piece. The resemblance to original plaster medallions is achieved only by using Ekena Millwork high-density urethane and not vacuum-formed, "plastic" type medallions. Medallions can be cut using standard woodworking tools to add a hole for electrical or a ceiling fan canopy. Medallions are lightweight for easy installation. They are fully primed and ready for your paint.

I know there’s quite a few reviews on the medallion not fitting properly together. I may have been lucky because mine fit perfectly. I will tell you if you are looking for something that will fit around your canopy this will not fit if your canopy is 5 inches in diameter which mine is. My canopy fit perfectly centered in the middle but on top of where the medallion meets if that makes sense. I ended up having to cut mine to fit around the canopy because if I hadn’t I would have had to buy a longer screw for the canopy so it could sit lower then where it sat before. Canopies are meant to sit flush against the ceiling so there’s not much room to lower it. The medallion is about an inch or so thick.
