Once my husband was able to get all the pieces working I do like the final look. The legs are not solid wood but wood pieces. However it is still heavy and sturdy. No damage to wood. This is overall a nice purchase. We did get a defective piece that had a large cut in the pole, but Wayfair was quick to send a new one. The canopy itself is not well thought out. There’s no way you can just throw it over the top and expect it to stay. We have weaved it through the slats as well as made a few modifications that makes it more functional. Sturdy, but it doesn’t seem like the type of pergola that will last for a significant time. It looks good in the photos, but far from what was espected. Even though the instructions are fairly good and the packaging was excellent, the time to assemble for 2 people is no where near 6-8 hours. The time to assemble is 2 to 3 times that. ihad to throw out all the roofing screws because they would strip out or would have come loose in the wind. I replaces with full thread roofing screws. The hup roof is designed with two j channels back to back that leaves an opening of about 1/2 inch for water to get in, I ended up filling with silicon. Great looking pergola with easy to follow instructions. Took two adults about 7 hours to build with breaks in between. We also used the recommended expansion bolts to secure it to our cement patio. The wood is very soft so it does dent and scratch easily while we were building it but it doesnt look bad at all.
