So far it's a great cutting board. Definitely have to follow the care recommendations for the initial oiling and seasoning for the first week or so. The item is made of all-natural American black walnut wood. Walnut sapwood is white and john boos use all of the wood. It's a tone color of the wood and the tone of the wood varies within the tree itself. Variations in the final product are not defects and therefore not covered under our warranty.

It's a tone color of the wood and the tone of the wood varies within the tree itself. Variations in the final product are not defects and therefore not covered under our warranty.

So far so good. No complaints yet. Hefty piece of wood. Very poor packaging for a 600 dollar - literally arrived in a box with no inner padding so some of the outer edges are a bit beat up, hence the 4 stars. This board weighs a ton so it is extremely good quality and does not slip and slide around on the countertop. It is constructed of a beautiful cherry wood and is designed to prevent dulling of knives. The thickness is great because its surface height does not strain the back while cutting or chopping. I have dreamed of owning a John Boos board for a very long time and am thrilled that Wayfair made my dream come true thanks to their convenient credit card. I absolutely love this board!
