When not in use it is flush with the stovetop which helps create a flat seamless flow on the countertop. When we have used it, it works very well. I have been using these filters for the last 7 years. I live in LA and the facet water isn’t the best to drink. These filters make a healthy water that taste good. Controls are pretty good, however are quite away under the hood. I love the filters as I can take them out and put them in the dishwasher for cleaning.
