I purchased these for the living room thinking. I was going to go more Polynesian in my second home when I got new furniture. That didn’t happen so I put them in the bedroom. I love these lamps. I am not a "modern" furniture lover, but these go great in my transitional house. I wanted bedside lamps that were high enought to give off enough light to read by as I read every night. There is a shorter version but I tried out another lamp I had the same size and found it was not tall enough to read by. It gives you an extra wall plug and USB port that I use to plug in my cel phone to charge and my vacuum cleaner to clean. These lamps are very practical and pretty with textured linen look shades..
