Venice Beach Collections brings you this infamous mugshot. As the story goes, in 1938 when a man convinced an unmarried woman of good repute to engage in an inappropriate encounter with him generally by promising marriage that was never actually forecoming, thereby ruining her reputation. In 1938, a 23-year-old Sinatra found himself in just such a situation, and he was officially arrested and booked for Seduction. The charge was eventually dropped when it was discovered that the supposedly single woman was in fact married. Later that year, armed with this new information, the original charge was revised slightly, and Sinatra was again arrested, this time for Adultery.

As the story goes, this mugshot was taken after Bowie landed a drug charge alongside Iggy Pop in 1976, the mugshot is from a Rochester, New York police station where the musicians were processed and held for a few hours after the arrest. The two musicians were taken into custody following a performance in the area where “about a half pound” of marijuana was confiscated by the police.

Three days after performing at the Diner Key Auditorium, Jim was charged with a felony and five misdemeanors and a warrant was issued for his arrest on March 5, 1969. The felony was for lewd lascivious behavior, two misdemeanors for public profanity, two for public exposure and one for public drunkenness. Police said Jim exposed himself on stage although there is no evidence. The legal wrangling went on until the day he died.
