I wouldn’t recommend for heavier clothing like jeans or similar, but also you probably wouldn’t be able to fit very many. The shelves hold more than the drawers. This bench is made of very sturdy wood and looks great. I do agree with other reviewers who have mentioned that the hinges are cheaply made in comparison to the rest of the bench. The lid is very heavy so it will be interesting to see how long the hinges will hold up. I had previously ordered the same bench from another vendor and it showed up completely busted, but this time there was only minor internal damage. I think the problem lies in the fact that it is shipped pre-assembled, which is convenient, but if not handled properly in transit it leads to damage. Overall I am pleased with my purchase..
