I really do love everything about this crate (so far). That is to say, I love the way it looks. I spent days looking at different furniture crates and had an aha moment when I found this one online. It was the perfect vibe for the aesthetic of my home. When it arrived I unpacked everything and inventoried all of the parts. Check. Then I read through the directions and it said it would take two people an hour to put it together. Uncheck. My dad and mom both came over to help. My dad is a carpenter and builder. It took us five hours and a lot of curse words to put it together. Was it worth it? At the time, no. But now that it's together, I'm glad we persevered. It really is a nice, sturdy piece. As for functionality? We'll see. I'm bringing an eight-week-old puppy home in a few weeks and imagine things will be pretty mild at first. The real test will be in a few months to see if the gates hold up. They aren't not sturdy, but they're also not affirmingly solid. Great for international flights. Flew from Texas to Colombia, and back, with my 62lb dog and it met all the guidelines and held up well. This is the Extra Extra Large size It’s very secure once assembled with the bolts and wingnuts, and clamps, that enclose the perimeter of the crate. The wheels were not allowed while traveling but were handy once the crate was disassembled to make it easier to move around. Improvements: - The area where the wheels attach got pretty beat up, would be nice if there was something else to put on top while not using the wheels. - the handles on top are plastic, and although they should be used just to move the top of the crate, one was missing when I returned back to Texas. Appears to be relatively heavy-duty and well made. It is certainly long enough to serve as we expected for our old fat beagle to use to get up into my truck, on the couch and possibly onto the bed again. Rocky has arthritis in his hips and we do a lot of lifting of his aft end to get him up the back steps, into the truck and onto the couch. The ramp is long enough to make the grade favorable and not so steep he cannot negotiate most "climbs" as needed. The ramp is very compact when collapsed, yet quite strong when extended for use.
