On firm side, but very comfortable! This is for a spare bedroom. This mattress is a narrow double mattress by two inches . It's 52 inches wide instead of 54. I though a double mattress was a double mattress. Not so. I have to push the mattress to one side and put blankets or rolled-up towels in the space on the other side in case my granddaughter would fall out so she didn't come down on the makeshift ledge that the shortage of 2 inches creates.
