It came with a 3 foot drop pole, which I used, because I think it looks nice like that. It runs very smoothly, and most importantly, it runs quietly. It was easier to install than I thought it would be. They make them much easier to install nowadays. And believe it or not, it was not even that heavy. I highly recommend this ceiling fan by Hunter..
