We LOVE this thing! Best upgrade ever. We purchased a sufficiently rated countdown timer switch with intervals that seemed appropriate for a bathroom heater (Leviton DT102 15-30-1h-2h) and have been enjoying this heated mirror so much. A brief ON will defog the mirror, while 15 minutes ON (switching on a bit before getting into the shower) is long enough for it to heat up fully and make a huge difference when stepping OUT of the shower. 30mins is great for getting ready on a very cold morning. The mirror optics seem very clear and high quality. We did not do the installation ourselves, as it was put in during a whole house rewire the electricians opted to put in a recessed outlet box behind the mirror and just plug it in there, rather than hard wiring it. This will preserve flexibility going forward. Because it was going in a very particular place, and we have plaster rather than drywall, they opted to install cross pieces of plywood secured to the wall, and mounted the mirror to the wood strips. It’s very secure-feeling. My one negative point is the thing gets so warm that it’s not comfortable to lean my face close (bad eyesight) for putting on make-up. This is something that might require finessing your timing if it was your only mirror, or setting up a small well-lit mirror in another location. Smaller than I wanted it will not hold the towels side by side. If your plug is behind the rack there is not enough room for the towels to hang and its a fight to get them on the rack. Also the rack does not heat as well the only area that heats is where the towel is laying across the bar not just touching it. We have converted our garage into a “hang out” spot with a pool table and karaoke machine etc. We love hanging out in there. Unfortunately, it is not connected with our central heat/air system. We did have a smaller window a/c unit that was just ok, but this one is a game-changer! It has a/c AND heat! Year-round comfort! It’s powerful enough to cool our entire garage (and we live in the South-so it definitely has its work cut out for it). The heater doesn’t exactly heat the whole room when it’s super cold out, but it definitely takes the chill out of the air and warms it sufficiently to make it possible to use the room in winter. We love it! The remote is handy and the timer feature is awesome. It is well-made and the as easy to install. We had to order a sleeve to slide it into, but it was very simple. The DVAG30L Direct Vent Wall Heater from Ashley Hearth products makes the perfect solution for zoned heating. The space-saving direct vent furnace design mounts to an exterior wall and the adjustable vent assembly adjusts to fit walls from 4-1/2 inches to 10 inches thick. For clean, comfortable heat when and where you want it, the gas flame is completely sealed inside, away from all contact with room air. Air necessary for combustion is drawn into the chamber from outside through the vent and combustion products are vented directly to the outside. Only clean, gentle heat, in continuous circulation, is delivered into the room. Windows and doors stay closed because no room air is used for combustion. The DVA30L direct vent propane wall furnace is designed to heat up to 425 Sq. Ft. and has a 25,000 BTU input.

Only used one time so far I think overall it will be great you must hold the the pilot light down for 5 or 6 minutes, at least to get it to light up. For me, the installation was a lot harder than I thought it would be. The unit I have is propane. Time will tell, but overall, I think its going to be great for heating up my small cabin.
