The packaging and quality of the cedar is very good. Like Teal, of Pomona, NY stated in their review: it’s a box of wood and bag of hardware and some very simplistic instructions. As a prolific builder and DIYfer I used my experience in assembling the arch. Fortunately, I have a pneumatic brad nailer with galvanized brads which made short time in nailing the many pieces together. I did not follow the slat spacing suggestions from the directions, rather having read the reviews, I made my own jig spacers after careful measurements. Pros: Good quality cedar; Looks excellent when completed; Assembly is straight forward once you figure out the spacing; Left unfinished the cedar will gracefully weather Cons: Directions need embellishment; Not for those wanting a quick assembly; Took over 6 hours to complete; Nails provided are not galvanized and should be of an outside product; Only 2 decorative wooden “arrows”---should be 4 for two on each side; Added longer and beefier exterior screws at the top/side joints for more strength. Where do I begin, initially I was very drawn to this garden arch with planters. However, after opening the box I noticed some issues right away. First, this wood has an odor to it that gave me a headache. Then I picked up a few pieces and was shocked by how lite they were. Not a durable quality wood, but something cheaper. Multiple parts are being held together with staples, the wood supports are not even long enough to go from side to side. I paid $650 for this desk on sale. Very disappointed in the quality. First, it is made of very light wood, pine I would guess. There are blemishes on the top where defects must have filled with putty or sawdust. The corners were damaged in shipping and do not look easily repairable (see photos). Overall, it is well constructed and functional but definitely not worth the price. I would be more satisfied if I had paid half of what I did, excluding the damage.. Douglass. Lancaster, PA. This arbor is exactly what I wanted for my native honeysuckle: solid wood, salt treated, not flimsy. Rounded edges, anchors included. I have very sandy soil where I put this arbor so I had to use extra anchors: 4 foot rebar pounded almost 3 feet in, and I think that'll do unless we get some serious weather. It took me several hours to put together just from having to drill the holes for the top bars and the anchors, if they had been pre-drilled this would be 5 stars.. Teresa. Middleburg, VA.
