I was really disappointed to find that this bed isn't truly waterproof... I ordered it to donate to a foster program, and thought it would be perfect for new kittens/puppies and their mothers - they can be pretty messy. :( The outer nylon cover is absolutely waterproof and as heavy and chew-resistant as described, but I dribbled water on the furry mattress cover and found that the interior was damp after a minute. I still rate it high though, and recommend it. I'll tell them to use pee-pads over the mattress and it'll work well. It's very well made from nice materials. The mattress is stiff enough to not crush over time, but is also very supportive and comfortable. The side rails are stiff enough to stay upright and not sag under a heavy head. The non- skid bottom is actually "tacky" enough to really be non-skid. All of those qualities make it a better bed than most. This thing is nearly perfect! We have three dogs that we kennel occasionally when we leave the house, and I was tired of looking at three wire kennels of different sizes spread throughout the house. I decided to splurge on this 95" furniture-style kennel console, and it's absolutely everything I wanted it to be! It's STURDY. The assembly instructions were easy to follow, and assembly wasn't nearly as daunting a task as I thought it was going to be. Ours did arrive with a pretty nasty scratch/scuff on one of the bottom boards (thanks to a pretty big gash in the box from shipping), but it's covered by a kennel pad/dog bed, so not visible and not worth fussing over.
